# TinkerShot

> TinkerShot is a Mac menu-bar app that puts a screenshot on a background, adds padding, a shadow or a device frame, and copies it back to the clipboard. It works offline: it has no network access, no account and no analytics. Made by Tinker Dev Pte. Ltd.

Status (16 October 2026): coming soon to the Mac App Store. No App Store listing yet.

## What it does

- Capture: Capture Region (drag over an area), Capture Window or Capture Full Screen, from the menu bar menu or a keyboard shortcut.
- Bring in an existing image: Paste from Clipboard (from anywhere, or in the editor), Open Image…, or drop an image on the editor.
- Backgrounds: gradients (Lagoon, Sunset, Ocean, Peach, Mesh, Slate), solid colours, two drawn scenes (Dusk, Leaf), transparent, and Auto-match (a background built from the colours in the screenshot).
- Layout: Padding, Inset (with a matching or chosen colour), corner Radius and Shadow sliders. Balance evens out the margins around the content.
- Frames, drawn by the app (no Apple artwork): Mac window (light or dark), phone, tablet, laptop.
- Sizes: Auto (pixels copied 1:1, so text stays sharp), 16:9, 4:3, 3:2, 1:1, X post, LinkedIn post, Instagram post, Threads post, YouTube thumbnail, or a custom size (16 to 16,384 px a side, up to 64 MP).
- Presets: a built-in "Clean" preset plus your own.
- Output: Copy puts a PNG on the clipboard; Export saves to ~/Pictures/TinkerShot; Save As… picks a place; 1×, 2× or 3× scale. PNG only.

## What it does not do (today)

- No annotation (arrows, text, highlights), no redaction or blurring, no OCR.
- No scrolling capture, no screen recording, video or GIF.
- No cloud upload or sharing links, no capture history.
- No JPEG or HEIC export yet.

## Price

- Free download with every editing tool. Exports carry a small "Made with TinkerShot" mark.
- Lifetime Unlock: optional one-time in-app purchase, $4.99 USD (local prices vary in the App Store). Removes the mark or replaces it with your own text, on every Mac with the buyer's Apple Account. No subscription. The free version is the full app with a mark.
- Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com; Apple determines eligibility. We never contest refund requests.

## Requirements

- macOS 15 or later. Mac App Store only. Sandboxed menu-bar app.

## Privacy

- No network access: the sandboxed app has no network entitlement, so it cannot connect to the internet.
- No account, no analytics, no tracking, no third-party code.
- Screen Recording permission is used only when the user starts a capture. The clipboard is read only on paste and written only on copy.
- Images are saved only where the user saves them. Expected App Store privacy label: Data Not Collected.
- The website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes request logs to deliver and protect it and shows the owner aggregate counts such as requests per day.

Default shortcuts: ⇧⌘2 Capture Region (Space switches to a window, Esc cancels); ⇧⌘V Paste from Clipboard; in the editor ⌘V paste, ⌘C copy, ⌘S save, ⇧⌘S Save As…. They can’t be changed in this version.
